 THE CENTER

Lois Curtis Center

We at the Lois Curtis Center are proud to be a part of the Southeast Topeka community, serving our friends and neighbors. Our advocates have over 100 years combined experience helping people advocate in areas of disability services, employment, housing, victim and survivor advocacy, educational system advocacy, and civil rights. Our advocates are available by stopping in at the Center, calling, or emailing.

Community Garden & Orchard

Fruit trees and garden beds were put up the Spring of 2026 and

first plantings are in the ground. Community members can join by sharing gardening knowledge, helping with any of the garden tasks, or harvesting produce as we build garden spaces and offer fresh fruits and vegetables to our neighbors.

Laundry Facility

The Lois Curtis Center offers community laundry space free of charge. Lack of physical access, no water, or no electricity can make laundry an impossible task. Our laundry space is available free of charge on a first-come, first served basis.

Private Meeting and Co-work Spaces

Lois Curtis Youth Programs

A place to make phone calls, use a computer, and meet online; community members use our co-work spaces as a place to do online school, sign up for social service benefits, attend telehealth appointments, or just cruise the internet. We offer several different spaces, including a computer workstation with video remote interpreting for ASL users.

It's a fact: Black and Brown children with disabilities are systemically predisposed to engaging with the preschool to prison pipeline.  Lois Curtis Center offers opportunities for young people to push back against this fact as they learn and build personal assets for lifelong learning, resilience, and community connection.
